After a delicious breakfast, you will visit the Ntarama Church, where mass killings with over 5,000 victims occurred during the 1994 genocide. The Ntarama Genocide Memorial is located about 30 km (approximately 19 miles) south of the capital city of Kigali. Learn about the unity and reconciliation commission. Proceed to Nyamata memorial site, a church where around 2,500 people were killed, and the barbaric treatment of women during the genocide.
After here, you will return to the city for lunch, and then depart for a visit the Inema art studio one of the biggest art galleries in East Africa.
After an early breakfast, you will depart for a 2-hour drive to Ruhengeri now known as Musanze, the second largest town in Rwanda. It boasts a stunning backdrop with five volcanic mountains, The Virungas, towering above the town. On arrival, you will visit the Gorilla Guardian’s village popularly known by its former name Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. All proceeds from your visit go to the local communities to buy seeds for farmers & scholastic materials for children.

Today is scheduled for Golden Monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park. Just like the mountain Gorillas, Golden Monkeys are endangered species making it a rare opportunity to see these creatures.
Viewing is restricted to a duration of one hour giving travelers an up-close look at the Golden Monkeys in their natural habitat.
After a sumptuous lunch at your lodging, head out to the beautiful twin lakes of Bulera & Ruhondo formed as a result of volcanic activity. The blue water is picturesque in addition to the volcanoes in the background making them a must visit. Return to your lodge for dinner & overnight.
Savor an early breakfast, and then proceed to the National Park headquarters in Kinigi to meet your guides for the day. After briefing we will embark on an unforgettable mountain gorilla tracking adventure. This is one of Africa’s undisputable travel highlights that is difficult to describe. After a successful trek, you will spend one hour in the company of these life sized creatures believed to be our closest cousins.
Spend the rest of the day at Leisure.
After breakfast, you will visit a local school. The Rwandan Education system has evolved over the years. Here you can either teach the kids or play games with them. Later, depart for Gisenyi with a stop at the Imbabazi Orphanage founded by Rosamond Halsey Carr (1912-2006) in 1994. The homestead is filled with bright colored flowers thanks to Rosamond’s green hands. Continue your journey to Gisenyi where you will spend the rest of the evening at leisure. You may choose to explore the lake or take a swim.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will get a chance to explore Gisenyi and the Lake Kivu environs. Gisenyi is the largest port on the Rwandan shore of Lake Kivu. Enjoy a boat ride to one of the islands in Lake Kivu. Explore the town, enjoying the hustle and bustle of the local market or wander through the leafy streets, admiring the old colonial buildings.
After lunch, set off on a 3-hour drive back to Kigali later in the afternoon, arriving in the late evening. Dinner & Overnight in Kigali.
Depending on your departure time, you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or do a city tour.
