5 Days Uganda Adventure and Gorilla Trekking Safari

Flight Time: 1 Hour: 30 Minutes

Transfer Time: 1 – 2 Hours (to Bwindi)   

Have your breakfast earlier, and thereafter transfer to the airport to catch a domestic flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon landing at Kisoro Airstrip (subject to change), transfer by road on a 01H: 30Min drive to the lodge. Arrive and check in and have lunch; followed by an afternoon cultural visit.

Planned Activity (subject to change depending on tracking location at booking): Buniga Batwa Cultural Trail – this 3 hour trail exhibits a mutual relationship between the Batwa and the jungle before their expulsion in the process of converting this forest into a protected reserve. In a bid to promote their unique heritage and traditions; the Batwa will walk you through their small pocket forests, showcasing a nomadic culture during their occupation of the rainforest. Approach the Batwa settlement and observe how the women go about cooking and serving a traditional meal. Continue to visit herbalists so as to explore the various herbs plus medicinal significance, and listen to ancient legends alongside traditional songs. You will as well explore their lifestyle (from religion to food gathering, hunting skills, and creating fire from rubbing sticks). This includes a sundowner experience overlooking the rainforest at a golden sunset. Drinks (local brands and juices) will be served.

After an early breakfast, you will be handed a lunchbox and mineral water to put in your backpack, then proceed to the park office. Upon completing your park formalities, you will embark on a once in a lifetime experience of tracking the endangered mountain gorillas.

Once you meet the gorillas on a tracking adventure, you are allowed between 1 to 2 hours watching and photograph the gentle apes including the silverback. This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking wildlife experience on earth!!! You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 700 living today, but you will get within meters with the gorillas in the process of creating a new family. Gorilla tracking may be fairly strenuous lasting approximately an hour at a relatively high altitude. During the trek, your ranger guide will identify a safe and scenic spot for your picnic lunch after which you will proceed with the trek or back to the lodge.

It is important to carry hiking boots, trousers, and gloves for protection against stinging nettles as well as sufficient water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during the day. 

Late afternoon; transfer to the Magical Lake Bunyonyi. Arrive at the lodge to check-in and stay at leisure. Best time for personal engagements with stunning views.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge. Spend the whole day exploring the beauty of Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is safe to explore like a local due to the hospitality of locals.

Planned Activities:

• Explore the Islands of Lake Bunyonyi on a Dugout Canoe: Cruise through the 29 Islands of Lake Bunyonyi. Canoeing is a traditional means of transport on Lake Bunyonyi used by locals for generations. By a dugout canoe, you can experience the lake like locals for an insight into the area’s history and culture. You will as well have a unique perspective on the surrounding landscape; you can take in the beauty of the lake and its surroundings from a different point of view than from land while feeling the serene breeze. Visit iconic Islands such as; Akampene, Bwama and Njuyeera with the nearby communities.


• Bunyonyi Top of the World Walk and sundowner: Getting to Bunyonyi top of the World, you are rewarded with spectacular views of all the 27+ Islands of Lake Bunyonyi. On the same walk learn about the local culture and traditions of the locals; villages and interact with hospitable residents for cultural interactions. The lake is home to over 200 species of birds, some of which are endemic to the region, such as the African fish eagle and the grey crowned crane for you to explore. Sample some Ugandan alcoholic brands and fresh juices at the top view point of Lake Bunyonyi.

Guests to pick one activity of choice from the following adventures:

• Guided Cable Crossing: Enjoy splendid views of the lake by sliding down a steel cable, suspended high above the lake, while being harnessed to a pulley system.


• Zip-line Cable Crossing and High Ropes Course: Feel the rush of adrenaline as you glide through the air, touching the lake and take in breath-taking views and the surrounding landscape. The High Ropes adventure consists of a series of challenging obstacles, such as rope bridges, Tarzan swings, and zip-lines, suspended high above the ground. The course is designed to test one’s physical and mental strength, and balance. A high ropes course is set up in the forested hills at the lake.

Returning to the lodge will be for dinner and relaxation.

Have an early breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Arrive at the airstrip by 07:00am to check-in for your flight to Entebbe. Arrival at Entebbe is foreseen at 11:30am/midday and proceed to check-in for your flight. Departure from 03:00pm is recommended. Lunch at a restaurant. If you have a late flight; a dayroom will be available for use.  

Alternatively, go for a Shoebill tour at Mabamba Swamp – for late departures.
