The Okavango Delta is a World Heritage Site as it is the largest inland delta in the world. The magnificent Okavango River sprawls out over the dry sands of the Kalahari Desert forming this flourishing waterlogged oasis featuring countless meandering waterways and crystal clear lagoons studded with water lilies, as well as fertile floodplains and reeded islands inhabited with abundant wildlife. The Okavango Delta stretches over an impressive 15000 square kilometres. Visitors can enjoy a number of wonderful activities such as game viewing, fishing, bird watching or taking an authentic guided Mokoro excursion through this wetland paradise in a traditional dugout canoe. Commonly spotted animals include: lion, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephants, crocodiles and birds.

Private Mokoro Ride (Traditional dugout canoe): Our guides are purely local, born and raised in the area, and you will spend your time in his Mokoro, gliding through the floodplains and channels.

Privately Guided Nature Walks: Enjoy a nature walk in company of a local guide and visit some of the many islands in the area, taking in the magnificent scenery and light as well as the abundant game and bird-life of the Okavango Delta.

Cultural interactions at an authentic Bayei Village: Explore the indigenous lifestyle of the natives of Okavango. Learn how they prepare traditional meals, their clothing and cultural entertainment.

Savuti, also known as Savute lies in the heart of Botswana’s beautiful Savute National Park. This dynamic wilderness is a sweeping expanse of savannah brooded over by several rocky outcrops which guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline. The Savute goes through wet and dry cycles, where wild dogs hunt in the dry river channel where crocodiles swam only twenty years ago. Visitors to this spectacular area can spot abundant wildlife including: a variety of birds, elephants, antelope, lion prides, black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, tsessebe, kudu, hyena, cheetah Cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest.

While at Savute National Park, you will have multiple morning and evening game drives conducted in open-top 4x4 vehicles bringing guests closer to the surroundings. The Savuti is famous for lion and elephant interactions and is known as one of the best places in Africa to view both of these species. Coffee stops in the mornings and scenic sundowners in the evenings, is a plus for your experience.

The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park which is renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of wildlife, including elephant and hippo populations, but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them – a visit to the Chobe River Front guarantees close encounters with an array of African wildlife. Sample a range of exciting activities such as 4WD along the banks; motorboat cruises; and rare birdlife spotting.

The engagements during the houseboat experience include:

Water based game viewing: Staying on board one of the Chobe Princesses is like being on a permanent game viewing vehicle, but with a much higher comfort factor. Situated in the heart of the Chobe region with access to river frontage of the Chobe National Park, you will be offered water-based game drives by a tender boat, allowing you to experience the enormous diversity and concentration of wildlife up even closer. Catch sight of huge herds of elephant as they swim across the water, as well as buffalo, lion, crocodile, lechwe, puku, giraffe, zebra, sable, kudu and the occasional leopard as they gather to quench their thirst at watering holes.

Sport Fishing: No trip to the Chobe is complete without trying your hand at a fishing safari where if you’re lucky, you may even catch a tiger fish. One of the greatest fighting fish in the world, the tiger fish is the most sought after prize of these waters and is known for its ferocious spirit. It's not all about tiger fish though. You may also hook one of the many bream species, African pike, tilapia, catfish or upper Zambezi yellow fish as you explore over 100 kms of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers, as well as the winding Kasai Channel and thrilling Chobe and Mambova rapids.

Birding at Chobe: With over 450 species, a mix of terrains and a dramatic African backdrop, the Chobe River is the perfect setting for a highly rewarding bird watching safari. Experienced birders and even eager amateurs will delight in spotting distinct birds such as African skimmers, rock pratincoles and the African fin foot, either through their binoculars or with the naked eye. Expect to view birds such as cattle egrets, fish eagles, open-billed storks, lesser-striped swallows, and pied kingfishers.

Cultural experiences: One of the best ways to learn more about a country is to experience its culture. A village tour while on board the Zambezi Queen will take you by tender boat to a local Namibian village called Ijambwe, situated on the floodplains of the East Caprivi. Meet village elders and locals for an insight into how the inhabitants of this 100-year old village live today. You will start by taking a slow, non-strenuous but sandy stroll through the village as you snap a few photographs and meet the Headman of the village as well as his children. Enjoy a display of traditional dances and singing at the end and join in the fun! You will as well go on a walking tour to a 2000-year-old baobab tree where you'll learn more about the medicinal and spiritual value of Impalila Island’s flora.

Today the long adventure finally comes to an end! Have breakfast aboard Chobe Princess, followed by a check-out.

Thereafter, touch the mainland and transfer to Botswana’s Kasane International Airport. Depending on your flight schedule, you will proceed to check-in for an onward departure.
