Starting with a boat cruise on the iconic Kazinga Channel plus Chimp trekking in Kyambura Gorge, you will also enjoy a private wilderness safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Continue to Bwindi and take a 7hour forest walk to Nkuringo with a mountain gorilla trek – Your Ugandan adventure is crowned the Sabyinyo Volcano Hike with a Canoe Ride and Cultural experience at Lake Mutanda; scenic views and cultural interactions await!

We recommend an early arrival. Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, and complete immigration formalities; thereafter, proceed to check-in for a domestic flight connecting to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Flight ETD: 07:00Hrs: It is important to note that the check-in time for your domestic flight is 06:00Hrs, this should be the basis for planning your arrival/inbound flight to Uganda.

Upon landing at Kasese Airstrip, be received by our Driver Guide and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park: Lunch is arranged at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Today’s Planned Activities: Stopover at Kasese Equator Monument and Lake Katwe Salt Works: This Lake is 100% saline and supports zero aquatic life, but known for salt mining and black clay extraction; this offers an opportunity to interact with the miners. Lunch is followed by the Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise –This is your main afternoon activity where you will spot numerous birds like; the African fish eagle, pelicans, flamingos, Hammerkop, egrets, the African fin foot, pied kingfishers, marabou storks, vultures, plus kites, alongside animals like; hippos, buffalos, warthogs, crocodiles and waterbucks visiting to water and cool off – this includes sights of fishing villages!

From the boat; the rest of this evening is yours at leisure.

Pick-up Time: 06:30Hrs. Early breakfast at the lodge and go for a game drive. Start the day with a Guided Game Drive –Explorethe park’s fauna which comprises numerous bird species and animals such as elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, waterbucks, Kob, and warthogs. Enjoy scenic views of crater lakes like Nyamunuka – animal clinic and Munyanyange –bird’s haven. Lunch is at the lodge before your afternoon primate trek.

Afternoon Activity: Chimpanzee Tracking Experience – Arrive at Kyambura Gorge by 14:00Hrs for briefing before the trek. Kyambura Gorge is a gigantic gash beneath the Savannahs, and it is best explored by descending 100m into a deep underground forest “The Valley of the Apes”. The gorge is 11km long – 1km wide, and was created resulting from the formation of the Albertine Rift of the great East African Rift Valley. Enjoy a guided hike through the gorge’s 157km2 forest, in search for the Noisy Chimpanzees;thishiking/nature trail, offers an opportunity to spot the Chimpanzees, with sights of more mammals such as hippos, forest elephants, forest hogs, antelopes, and other smaller primates. On the same nature trail, approach Kyambura River which runs through the valley floor all the way into the Kazinga Channel. By taking a nature walk in Kyambura, you are rewarded with experiencing a mix of biospheres: hotter Savanah and an equatorial biosphere combined. The other common sights in the gorge include crater lakes such as Lake Africa, Kyasanduka and Nyamasingiri situated within the gorge.

Return to the lodge late evening and refresh for dinner and overnight.

Pick-up Time: 07:00Hrs. Early breakfast check-out as planned for departure to Bwindi.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with a stopover at the park’s Ishasha Sector; to search for the Tree Climbing Lions on a guided safari. Spotting these Lions is by chance; but the guide will put in extra efforts to ensure that you see them; Ishasha lions tend to roam to distant areas of the park, which makes it a hit-and-miss encounter! However, this experience is the highlight of Ishasha; where these lions are regularly spotted hanging up in acacia and fig trees for own reasons.

Lunch is arranged at Ishasha Jungle Lodge and proceed to Bwindi.

Today’s Adventure Excursion: Buhoma to Nkuringo Walking Safari –Today’s walking safari across Bwindi Impenetrable Forest from Buhoma Sector (north) to Nkuringo Sector (south), through Ivy or Kashasha hiking trails is another unique off-the-beaten-path adventure in this primeval jungle. A few adventurous trekkers who have braved the seven-hour-long hike through the forest have great testimonies! The trek takes up to 7 hours with a fast-pace movement: If taking Kashasha River Trail (recommended), you will be required to be physically fit due to its steep inclines especially at towards the last section. This adventure trail will offer you a close-up experience of the endless natural wonders of this tropical forest beyond mountain Gorillas.

Arrive at Nkuringo and reunite with your driver guide: Take a moment of relaxation, and head to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Pickup Time: 06:30Hrs. After an early breakfast you will be handed a lunchbox with mineral water for the trek.  Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Experience –Upon completing your park formalities, embark onto a once in a life time experience of tracking the endangered mountain gorillas. Once you meet the gorillas on a tracking adventure, you will be allowed between 1 to 2 hours watching and photographing the gentle apes including the silverback. This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking wildlife experience on earth!!!  On close encounter, you will stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 700 living today, but you will get within meters for stunning photography, but considering all the necessary safety measures. During the trek, your ranger guide will identify a safe spot for your picnic lunch after which you will proceed with the trek or back to the lodge (Subject to change). Wear hiking shoes, face mask, trousers, hand gloves, long-sleeves, insect repellent with water.

The rest of this day is yours at leisure following a gorilla trek – dinner is included.

Pickup Time: 06:00Hrs. Early breakfast at the lodge: You will be offered a lunchbox with mineral water at check-out.  Thereafter, be dropped off at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for briefing and expectations from the trek –This a full day adventure trek.

Highlight of the Day: Mount Sabyinyo Adventure Trek –Here is another hike that will lead you to the meeting convergence point of Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR. Congo! “Sabyinyo!” (Old man’s teeth) is derived from the mountain’s peaks which appear like an old man’s spaced teeth. The Sabyinyo hike is much steeper and tougher than any other hikes around Mgahinga; but the views you get are out of the world. Mount Sabyinyo stands at an elevation of 3,669m ASL and to summit the peak takes up to eight hours (round trip); covering a total distance of 14km from the base to the peak. On the Sabyinyo hiking trail, you will traverse a stunning mountain stream which meanders through a dense Afromontane forest all the way into the deep Sabyinyo Gorge: The terrain on the slopes of Mount Sabyinyo is extremely rugged with many sharp ridges and craters which makes its hike a strenuous one. What to expect: Sights of primates such as golden monkeys, b/w colobus monkeys and animals like duikers, mountain elephants, buffaloes, with a variety of birds, especially the resident Rwenzori Turaco. Getting to an international boundary of the three countries, is the highlight of your hike.

Just like any other hike:  You will be required want to have robust hiking boots, gaitors, trousers, a raincoat, a bottle of water, packed lunch, an insect repellent, feel free to hire a porter.

Descend and transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Pickup Time: 08:00Hrs. Breakfast at the lodge, and head to Lake Mutanda for an adventure and cultural experience – full day excursion.

Planned Excursion: “A Day in Rural Uganda” –Lake Mutanda: This is an authentic Ugandan culture and culinary experience, which starts with a dugout canoe ride to the other side of Chameleon Bay. Upon arrival you will be greeted by an authentic rural farmer and his family (random family)! Explore the crop fields and harvest your own potatoes, pumpkin flowers or other seasonal, organic fruits, herbs and vegetables. Join your host in the homestead kitchen as you assist in preparing a traditional dish over an open fire. Enjoy a traditional meal with the rest of the family as you learn more about their rich cultural heritage, listen to storytelling and cultural music instruments. In the afternoon stroll through the nearby village and get a brief lesson in the native language Rukiga, before getting to a local school to meet the pupils and teachers. Your day ends with a guided “Boda-Boda” (Motorcycle) ride to the lodge which makes for a complete Ugandan experience.

Dinner is arranged at the lodge after the day’s adventure.
