Pickup Time: 08:00AM. Have breakfast at your residence a bit earlier. From your residence in Kigali, start with visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial before proceeding to Volcanoes National Park.

Planned Activity: Visit and explore the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a place of remembrance and reflection that honours the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Through impactful exhibits, survivor testimonies, and historical accounts, gain a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s tragic past and the resilience of its people. The memorial not only preserves memory but also highlights the nation’s ongoing journey of healing and reconciliation. Its serene gardens offer a quiet space for contemplation, making the experience both moving and unforgettable.

You will have lunch at the lodge upon arrival with the rest of the day at leisure.

Optional Activity (30$ pp.): Iby’Iwacu Cultural Visit – Immerse yourself in Rwanda’s rich heritage through traditional music, dance, storytelling, and local crafts.

Pick-up Time: 05:00AM. After an early breakfast at the lodge, receive a packed lunch and bottled water for the trek, then proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing.

Volcanoes Gorilla Tracking Experience – After completing park formalities, begin the extraordinary mountain gorilla tracking experience in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Trek through the misty slopes of the Virunga volcanoes to observe these rare primates—up close for an hour of unforgettable observation and photography. The trek is physically demanding, often lasting several hours at high altitude through dense rainforest, but the encounter is profoundly rewarding. Wear sturdy hiking boots, trousers, a facemask, gloves, an insect repellent, and carry sufficient drinking water. Your ranger guide will manage the pace and duration to ensure a safe, immersive, and unforgettable experience with these magnificent gorillas.

After the trek, visit Dian Fossey Museum before setting off back to Kigali. Arrive at Kigali and be dropped off at your residence or Kigali Int. Airport.
