The reserve is the home of ‘‘Kamunyak’’ a lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves.
Samburu National Reserve – Was one of the two areas in which conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness. Their story was made famous by the bestselling book and award-winning movie "Born Free”. Elegance is on display with several large game species common to Kenya's northern plains; the gerenuks a unique gazelle with a long neck that stands on its hind legs, the Grevy's zebras with huge fury ears, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant, Leopards, Cheater, lions and crocodile are guaranteed sightings. Morning, afternoon, and evening’s game drive then return to lodge for time to relax, with sundowner’s cocktails. After breakfast, drive to Thomson Falls and feel the cooling mist from its 236-foot cascade that feeds the dense forest below. Thereafter, travel to Lake Elementaita; arriving for lunch at Lake Elementaita Serena Lodge. After lunch go explore Soysambu Ranch on a game drive and enjoy an iconic Walk to the “Out of Africa” plains for panoramic views of the conservancy – enjoy a sundowner at Soysambu. The sundowner is an essential part of safari life and dates back to the time of the great safaris of the 1920’s. Timed to start as the sun begins its descent, the sundowner experience begins with a gentle evening game drive, arriving at the sundowner site just as the evening sky turns gold-pink. Return to the lodge to refresh for dinner and recuperate.
The Soysambu Conservancy (a UNESCO Heritage Site) – was established in 2007 with an aimed at conserving the flora, fauna and the amazing scenery, the ranch is situated northwest of Gilgil, in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. This stunning Conservancy is 190 sq.km and borders the Elementaita Badlands as well shares a 12.1 km boundary with Lake Nakuru National Park to the west. In the colonial times, the ranch was farmed by Lord Delamere's family since it was founded in 1906. The current operations at the ranch include a large beef herd, a hay baling operation and an agro-forestry enterprise among others. Some scenes of the popular “tomb raider” film and several others were filmed here.

Masai Mara National Reserve – This is one of Kenya’s undisputed natural highlights, which sprawls across more than 1500 square kilometres of the country’s southwest. The park protects a phenomenal array of game, including elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, as well as crocodile and hippopotamus in the Mara River. The birdlife is impressive, with over 450 resident bird species. However, the true highlight here is the Great Migration, recognised as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World: To survive the dry months of July to September, some 1.7 million wildebeest, migrate into Masai Mara from the parched plains of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Along with much smaller numbers of antelope, buffalo and zebra. In their wake come predators such as crocodiles, lion, hyena and cheetah, for whom these giant herds are an easy source of prey.

Called “the eighth wonder of the world,” it is an utterly unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the crater, enclosed by towering walls, some over 20,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes, and forests of this land that time forgot, dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos, lions, and a glorious variety of birdlife.
