Destination: Kilimanjaro – Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro – Zanzibar Island

The clients arrived in Tanzania and took a domestic flight to Northern Serengeti National Park; this was the best way to start an amazing Tanzanian safari! The Serengeti safari offered endless game viewing opportunities; They had a balloon ride paired and a bush breakfast. They then left Northern Serengeti on a game-viewing journey to the popular Ngorongoro Crater: At Ngorongoro; a bush picnic, historical site visits, and the crater game drives await. This Tanzanian safari experience is crowned with a beach retreat on Zanzibar Island.

Trip Itinerary

Flight Duration: Approx. 02 Hours

Recommended: Morning or Early afternoon arrival. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and completing immigration procedures; within the same airport, proceed to check-in for your domestic flight to Northern Serengeti.

Domestic Flight timing options (The group is required to pick one option only):

Option 1: ETD: 11:15Hrs | ETA 12:45Hrs (Lunch and dinner at the lodge) 

Option 2: ETD: 15:45Hrs | ETA 17:45Hrs (Dinner at the lodge)  

Upon arrival at Kogatende Airstrip; be welcomed by our Guide(s) and transfer to the lodge. Check-in and have lunch or dinner – based on flight timing selected. The rest of your time today will be spent at leisure for personal engagements.

Pick-up Time: 06:30AM. The day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge; a picnic lunch to be provided from the lodge for your full day game drive.

Enjoy your full day exploring the wildlife of Northern Serengeti with a chance to witness the great wildebeest migration. Your Serengeti safari experience is composed of stunning scenic views, wildlife sightings and wilderness sunsets. Our dedicated safari guide will lead you into the right path making sure you have the best time to enjoy these great wildlife phenomena – one of the natural wonders of the world. What to expect on your safari; Lions, Elephants, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebra, Leopard, and Cheetah, baboon, warthogs, Hyena with a variety of birds. In many cases migration is taking place around Serengeti and at that particular time millions of wildebeest and zebra are mingling together.

Optional Activity (at 600$ pp.): Serengeti Balloon Flight and Bush Breakfast

Pickup 04:00Hrs. Depart very early to the Balloon launch site (Arrive by 06:00AM); then be guided about the safety guidelines for the balloon ride – A safari of this nature offers an incredible perspective of the Serengeti plains (breath-taking vistas, wildlife sightings, and sunrise). This lasts an hour until 07:30AM. Upon landing, you will be served at sumptuous Bush Breakfast amidst sights and sounds of a true African wilderness. Continue with a game drive after the bush breakfast with a later lunch break at a picnic site. 

Return to the lodge in the evening to refresh and relax with dinner included.

Serengeti National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – The word “Serengeti” was derived from the Masai language, meaning “endless plains”. Serengeti remains outstanding due its beauty and being a home to the Great Wildebeest Migration: The huge herds of plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope dominate the park whereas the attendant predators such as lion and cheetah are often overseeing the plains from the many kopjes scattered across. The park’s savannah-wood-landscape is composed of open grass plains, savannah with scattered acacia trees, hilly, wooded grassland as well as, extensive woodland and black clay plains. Serengeti is also renowned for vast wildlife populations: a record 2 million+ ungulates, 4000 lions, 1000 leopards, 550 cheetahs and over 500 bird species.

Journey Time: Approx. 6 Hours

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Thereafter, leave northern Serengeti, traveling southwards to end in the Ngorongoro region. On your journey to Ngorongoro, you will be doing a safari which is spiced with a stopover for a picnic lunch En-route. This safari journey will offer more chances of encountering the great migration alongside exploring the wildlife and scenery of the Central Serengeti. Arrive at the lodge in the evening and check-in; the rest of the day to be spent at leisure. Dinner is included.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Was once a part of the great Serengeti National Park, but later in 1959, the Ngorongoro was split from Serengeti into an independently protected area a with unique outstanding universal values and conservational status. At the top of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders; Ngorongoro was upgraded to a UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979, owing to its global biodiversity significance portrayed by the presence of endemic animal species, immense wildlife within and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles into the northern plains.

Meal Plan: Full board (Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast at the lodge and head out to explore the adventures of Ngorongoro Crater – the whole day is dedicated to exploring the crater’s wildlife and sights. Your picnic lunch is set to be served within the crater amid stunning views.

Today’s Planned activities:

  • Guided Game drive within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – During your game drive, expect a variety of animals such as; Giraffes, impala, elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, bat-eared fox, genet, jackal, wildcat, with over 400 bird species possibly spotted.  
  • Explore the Ngorongoro Crater; this is the world’s largest scenic volcanic crater! Ngorongoro is an utterly unique biosphere that has remained untouched. Deep within the crater, enclosed by towering walls, some over 20,000 large mammals roam within the plains, lakes, and forests of this land. You will have a picnic lunch within the crater.
  • Visit the Olduvai Gorge and Olduvai Museum; the gorge is an archaeological site where the ancient fossils were discovered – the “Cradle of Mankind”; then proceed to Olduvai Museum(est. by Mary and Louis Leakey in 1970 to its present look in 2017). The museum exhibits fossils, stone tools & skeletons of extinct animals from the gorge excavations.

Return to the lodge towards the evening following an adventurous day. Dinner included.

Pick-up Time: 09:00AM. Early breakfast and check-out. As scheduled join your safari guide and be dropped off at Lake Manyara Airstrip, for a domestic flight to Zanzibar Island. Upon arrival, be dropped off at the hotel/resort and check-in for a late lunch.

The Zanzibar Retreat (Best place to relax and unwind)

These days are all about the beach! Right outside the resort, there's a beautiful beach awaiting. Experience the beach; relax, swim in the blue waters, or play in the white sand.

Journey Time: Approx. Approx. 40 Minutes

Pick-up Time: Flexible based on flight schedule. Breakfast served at the hotel on a leisurely morning (Check-out time: 10:00AM). You will have a farewell lunch at the hotel. After lunch be dropped off at Abeid Amani Karume Int. Airport (ZNZ), to check-in for your onward flight.
