Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge, followed by a briefing at the park before embarking on your chimpanzee habituation expedition.
Today’s top Experience: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience – After a briefing, join a team of researchers, armed rangers, and trackers as you venture into the heart of the forest. Unlike mountain gorillas, chimpanzees require up to three years of habituation before they can be safely observed, making this encounter exceptionally rare. Uganda is home to approx. 4,950 chimps, with around 1,500 residing in the lush forests of Kibale National Park. Over the next 4 to 5 hours, move quietly through the forest, immersed in a symphony of rustling leaves, melodic hoots, and the chatter of inquisitive chimps. Witness these intelligent primates leap, play, and navigate the intricate dynamics of their social groups—Each moment offers an intimate insight into their vibrant lives, connecting you to the untamed heartbeat of the pristine forest. What to bring: a packed lunch and mineral water, sturdy hiking shoes, a face mask, gaiters, insect repellent, a rain jacket, long-sleeved shirt and trousers, and binoculars to catch sight of endemic birds.
After chimpanzee habituation, the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.
