This is an extremely active adventure which requires your best energy levels – the safari is aimed at nature walks, guided hikes with wildlife and cultural encounters. Journey time: Approx. 1 Hour

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be received by our safari guide. Have a briefing for the trip and get dropped-off at the hotel – Kampala. Check-in and use this time to recuperate and get set for your coming Ugandan adventure. You may request for a shoebill tour or Kampala city tour (half day), in case you arrive on a morning flight.

Journey Time: Approx. 5 Hours to Nyero                      

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast at the hotel and leave Kampala for Kapchorwa via Kumi (Home of Nyero Rock Paintings). Lunch is arranged at a restaurant En-route.

Planned activities: Visit and explore Nyero Rock Paintings – Nyero is an ancient cultural site located in eastern Uganda, Kumi District – which dates back to before 1250 CE. The site consists of six rock shelters, each with a uniquely authentic shape. Hike through the rocky hills into the caves to admire old age rock arts of the Batwa. The rock art sites are believed to have been sacred places of the gods. Continue to explore the three major Waterfalls of Sipi – Follow Sipi’s scenic hiking trails that traverse coffee farms, communities, banana farms amid stunning views. The waterfalls to be explored include: Chebokoch (85 meters), Chepkui (Easiest at 65 meters high), and Kaptogolo (Hardest at 100 meters high). Get to the lodge late evening and refresh for dinner.

Pickup Time: 07:00AM (Journey time: Approx. 1 Hour). Early breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Thereafter, transfer to the starting point of your 3-day hiking trail.

Mount Elgon 3-Day Sasa Trail Hike: Day 3. Hike to Mude Cave Camp 3,472m
Meet your mountain guides at the basecamp for briefing and explanation of what to expect. Start from the Base Camp at 1,720m up to the park entrance at 2,240m through the communities with coffee, vegetable and maize plantations. The first 600m is a bit steep after which it levels out except the last section which is the steepest and gets slippery. From the park entrance; climb further to another steep section, but taking simple staircases that make it easier. After about 500m, get to the rock face of the escarpment following a set of long steel staircases amid views of the local community below. After about 4 hours, you are at Sasa River Camp (2,860m), stopping for a quick lunch, cup of tea or coffee and head further to Mude Camp at 3,472m though an Afromontane forest into the bamboo zone. At around 3,250m the forest starts opening up to gradually become the Heath Zone where you walk across rolling grassy hills with the occasional Giant Groundsel, Heather and wildflower species. Tonight you will sleep at Mude Camp (3,472m ASL). Included: Guides/ X1 Porter/Meals in the mountain and Camping accommodation.

The day starts with an early breakfast and start your trek to the summit of Wagagai Peak; the experience is worthwhile! Go trekking past Jackson's Pool (Sera's Pool) and Masaba summit, which is full of Bamasaba and Gisu Tribe history and culture. Once you get to the peak, you look across the world’s largest mountain caldera (40sq.km) which is the centre point of the dead Mount Elgon Volcano. After enjoying the views and taking a few pictures, you descend back to Mude Camp for a quick break and later proceed to Sasa River Camp for your overnight’s stay.

Overnight: Sasa River Camp (Tent camping with a small foam mattress)

Meal plan: Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner

Journey time: Approx. 4 Hours

Breakfast is served and descend down to the basecamp (1,720m) following the same route/trail. Lunch is arranged on your way down. Arrival at the basecamp is foreseen at midday: Get debriefed and reunite with your driver guide. Thereafter, start off your journey to Moroto Town (Home of Mount Moroto); arrive in the evening and check-in at the hotel with the rest of this time at leisure. Dinner at own cost.

Pickup Time: 08:00AM. Have an early breakfast at the hotel and be dropped off at the starting point for briefing. You will explore two of the three peaks of Mount Moroto on your two-day trek. During this scenic adventure, you will cover a total of 30km starting from Moroto town at 1,400m ASL. The peaks to explore include; Sogolomon (3,027m), and Leoron (2,773m) or Sokodek (3,083m). The trek is a moderate hike, taking you through the scenic ridges, forests and a stopover at the Tepeth Community to explore their authentic traditional lifestyle. Important Notice: No bathing and toilet facilities at the camp. You will only be offered a bush toilet whilst on the mountain. If guests cannot stand a night without refreshing, a bush bath may be improvised but should carry enough water.

Overnight: Mountain Camping

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast

Journey time: Approx. 71/2 Hours

Early breakfast. Thereafter, descend down the mountain and have a quick shower at Kara-Tunga Safari Camp. You are required to keep time and be at the camp by 10:00AM.

After freshening up, start your journey to Murchison Falls National Park (At 11:00Hrs sharp) taking Soroti – Lira route. Lunch is arranged at a restaurant En-route. Arrival at the park is foreseen late evening: Get to the lodge and check-in to refresh for dinner and overnight’s rest/relaxation.

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast at the lodge and be offered lunchboxes for your picnic. This day is dedicated to guided nature/forest walks and hiking.

Planned activities: Budongo Eco Forest Walk – This forest walk offers an off the beaten path experience! Embark on an adventure through well-maintained forest trails, offering a captivating glimpse into the enchanting tropical rainforest. Explore deeper into the ecosystem as you stroll past ancient Mahogany trees and marvel at the numerous butterfly species. With its relatively flat terrain, this forest walk is ideal for adventure enthusiasts since it offers an immersive experience amidst lush eco surroundings. Dive into the heart of nature and uncover the secrets of Budongo Forest on this unforgettable nature excursion. From the forest, proceed to the top of Murchison Falls for a picnic lunch.

Two-way Guided Top of the Falls Hike – This follows your lunch break and requires your best energy levels. At the top of the falls, River Nile squeezes through an 8m–wide Gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron”, creating a permanent rainbow and precipitation. From the top, you will hike down to the base of the waterfall on a scenic 2km steep descent; this offers an opportunity to experience the waterfall in detail, and also see Uhuru Falls which follows left of Murchison Falls. Uhuru Falls came into existence in 1962 when Uganda experienced El-nino rains and at a time when acquired independence – thus named Uhuru “independence”. After exploring the waterfall, hike back to the top on the same 2km hiking trail. Time permitting; continue with an evening game drive or head back to the lodge.

Journey Time: Approx. 07 Hours

Pickup Time: 07:00AM. Early breakfast and depart Murchison for Kibale Forest (Lunch is at a restaurant). You may start your day with an optional boat cruise before continuing to Kibale. Optional Activity (at 40$ pp.): Morning Waterfall Cruise – This is offers an opportunity for viewing animals such as hippos and crocodiles with an extensive birdlife. What to expect; Nile crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, waterbuck, kob and elephants along the riverbank. Spot birds like: the saddle-billed stork, African Jacana, and Kingfishers.

After the cruise, continue out of the park to Kibale Forest. Arrive towards the evening and check-in at the lodge to refresh for dinner at leisure.

Planned Activities: Kibale “Top of the World” Hike – The hike begins from Lake Nyabikere Crater “frogs”, with stunning views at sunrise! During the trek learn about the formation of crater lakes, traditional legends, and culture which makes your 3-hour hiking trail more interesting and worthwhile. Hike across lush gardens, banana, and coffee with tea plantations enjoying splendid views of crater lakes, Fort Portal City, Kibale Forest and the Rwenzori Mountain Ranges just below you. Thereafter, enjoy a traditional lunch at Tinka’s Homestead and head to Kyambura Gorge (Queen Elizabeth National Park).

Guided Hike/Nature Walk in Kyambura Gorge – Kyambura is a gigantic gash beneath the Savannahs, best explored by descending 100m into an underground gorge forest “The Valley of the Apes”, which is 11km long – 1km wide, and was formed as a result of the Albertine Rift. Hike through a 157sq.km forest, following scenic hiking trails within the gorge. You will spot several primates, rare vegetation and experience a tropical forest; expect animals such as hippos, forest elephants, giant forest hogs, and a few antelopes. Approach Kyambura River which flows through the gorge to Kazinga Channel. A nature walk in Kyambura is a mix of biospheres: The hotter savannah and an equatorial forest: Get to the gorge view deck and realize the stunning gorge beneath the savannah lands.

Transfer to the lodge late evening and refresh for dinner and overnight.

Journey Time: Approx. 4 Hours   

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast and check-out; your day starts with a game drive En-route to Bwindi (Lunch is arranged at Ishasha Jungle Lodge).

Start with a Morning Game Drive; explore the park’s flora and fauna with elusive bird species and a wide variety of animals like elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, waterbucks, Kob, warthogs and many more. Enjoy scenic views of crater lakes like Nyamunuka and Munyanyange. Continue to the park’s Ishasha Sector; at Ishasha you may spot the Tree climbing lions (spotting by chance since the lions tend to roam over). The lions are occasionally seen hanging in acacia and fig trees for unknown reasons.

After lunch, travel further to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – arrive towards the evening to check-in at the lodge and be at your free time. Dinner included.

Walk Duration: Approx. 7 Hours to Nkuringo

Pick-up Time: 07:30AM. Early breakfast and be offered lunchboxes plus mineral water to put in your backpack. Your guide will drop you off at the park office for briefing.

Main Activity of the day: Buhoma to Nkuringo Walking Safari – Today’s walking safari across Bwindi Impenetrable Forest from Buhoma Sector (north) to Nkuringo Sector (south), through Ivy or Kashasha hiking trails is another unique off-the-beaten-path adventure in this primeval jungle. A few adventurous trekkers who have braved the seven-hour-long hike through the forest have great testimonies! The trek takes up to 7 hours with a fast-pace movement: If taking Kashasha River Trail (recommended), you will be required to be physically fit due to its steep inclines especially at towards the last section. This adventure trail will offer you a close-up experience of the endless natural wonders of this tropical forest beyond mountain Gorillas.

Arrive at Nkuringo and reunite with your driver guide: Take a moment of relaxation, and head to the location of your tonight’s lodge. Arrive late evening at the lodge and check-in to refresh for dinner and overnight’s stay.

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. After an early breakfast you will be handed a lunchbox and mineral water to put in your backpack, then proceed to the park office.

Gorilla Tracking Experience Upon completing your park formalities, embark onto a once in a life time experience of tracking the endangered mountain gorillas. Once you meet the gorillas on a tracking adventure, you will be allowed between 1 to 2 hours watching and photographing the gentle apes including the silverback. This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking wildlife experience on earth!!!  On close encounter, you will stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 700 living today, but you will get within meters for stunning photography, but considering all the necessary safety measures. During the trek, your ranger guide will identify a safe spot for your picnic lunch after which you will proceed with the trek or back to the lodge (Subject to change). Wear hiking shoes, face mask, trousers, hand gloves, long-sleeves, insect repellent with water.

You will then transfer to another lodge close to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: Get to the lodge and check-in with the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner included.

Pickup Time: 07:00AM. Breakfast at the lodge and be handed a lunchbox with mineral water for the day’s hike. Be dropped off at the starting point of the trek (Mgahinga Gorilla National Park office) for briefing about what to expect and achieve from the trek.

Highlight of the Day: Mount Sabyinyo Adventure Trek –  Here is another hike that will take you to the meeting convergence point of Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR. Congo! “Sabyinyo!” (Old man’s teeth) is derived from the mountain’s peaks which appear like an old man’s spaced teeth. The Sabyinyo hike is much steeper and tougher than any other hikes around Mgahinga; but the views you get are out of the world. Just like any other hike:  You will be required want to have robust hiking boots, gaitors, trousers, a raincoat, a bottle of water, packed lunch, an insect repellent, feel free to hire a porter and you may carry an extra snack for your guide.  Mount Sabyinyo stands at an elevation of 3,669m ASL and to summit the peak takes up to eight hours (round trip); covering a total distance of 14km from the base to the peak. On the Sabyinyo hiking trail, you will traverse a stunning mountain stream which meanders through a dense Afromontane forest all the way into the deep Sabyinyo Gorge: The terrain on the slopes of Mount Sabyinyo is extremely rugged with many sharp ridges and craters which makes its hike a strenuous one. What to expect: Sights of primates such as golden monkeys, duikers, some mountain elephants, buffaloes, with a variety of birds, especially the resident Rwenzori Turaco. Getting to an international mountain boundary of the three countries with views of all the Virunga ranges, is the highlight of your hike.

Descend and transfer to the hotel late evening, to refresh for dinner and overnight.
