Overview

Half the world’s Mountain Gorillas call Uganda home, and these elusive primates are hard to find elsewhere naturally on the planet except in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo – known for lowland gorillas. Taking this habituation adventure is an opportunity to have an extended insight into the unseen behaviour of the chimps and gorillas, and to explore the process of taming a new primate family; making it available for future primate trackers. Your primate trip is blended with golden monkey tracking and Kigali City Tour.

Habituation is the process of taming the chimpanzees – to get them used to human presence for future tracking. Uganda has about 4,950 chimpanzees and of these, 1500 chimps are within Kibale National Park. During your habituation adventure, you will be offered more time with the noisy primates (between 5 – 6 hours) for a detailed insight into the life of the chimps – an experience far different from the conventional chimp trek.
